Qatar Central Bank highlights value and volume of point-of-sale and e-commerce transactions last month

Qatar Central Bank (QCB) announced that the total value of transactions conducted through point-of-sale (POS) terminals and e-commerce platforms reached QR13.8bn ($3.8bn) in March 2025, according to the latest card payment statistics.

In a post on X on Monday, QCB revealed that the value of e-commerce transactions amounted to QR4.4bn ($1.2bn), with a total volume of 9.6m transactions.

Meanwhile, POS transactions recorded a total value of approximately QR9.4bn ($2.6bn), with a transaction volume of 38.8m.

In the same context, QCB stated that the total value of transactions across various payment systems reached QR16.1bn ($4.4bn) during March, with a total volume of 49.9m transactions.

The Central Bank also highlighted the share of each payment channel:

  • POS transactions accounted for 58 per cent
  • E-commerce for 27 per cent
  • Mobile payment systems for 1 per cent
  • “FAWRAN” instant payment service for 14 per cent
