LIV Golf To Offer One Season-long Card Through Promotions Event In Riyadh

The second edition of the LIV Golf Promotions will once again be played in the Middle East, but the venue has been moved from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh Golf Club in the Saudi Arabian capital this year.
The three-day tournament, to be played December 12-14, offers a life-changing one spot in the 54-man roster of the Public Investment Fund-backed professional men’s golf tour.
With a $120,000 cheque for the last-placed player in every LIV Golf regular-season event (13, apart from the Team Championship), a place in the League would guarantee a player at least $1.56 million for the year. The winner’s cheque on LIV Golf is worth $4 million for each tournament.
Three spots were on offer last year in Abu Dhabi – won by Finland’s Kalle Samooja with Zimbabwe’s Kieran Vincent and Japan’s Jinichiro Kozuma being the other qualifiers – but that’s been reduced to just one for the 2025 season.
LIV Golf pathway
However, the top 10 players from the Promotions event will be exempt to all 10 International Series events on the Asian Tour. The International Series comprise 10 tournaments and offers a separate pathway to LIV Golf, with the ranking winner getting a card for the following season.
The Promotions tournament will consist of four rounds of strokeplay over three days, including 36 holes on the final day. It offers a prize purse of $1.5 million. The winner, apart from the card to the 2025 season of LIV Golf, will also take home a cheque of $200,000.
On Thursday, December 12, those who finish in the top 20 and ties from round one will advance to Friday’s round two. There scores will be reset, and the field will be joined by a category of players who automatically qualified for day two of the competition. The top 20 players following round two will advance to the final day of competition, with scores reset once more for a full-day, 36-hole shootout.
Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman commented: “Those who have competed in the LIV Golf League consistently share similar feedback: the energy, camaraderie, and global competition have created a once-in-a-lifetime experience for players to pursue their dreams at the highest level.
“LIV Golf Promotions delivers another pathway for up-and-coming players and top competitors to experience a life-changing season with LIV, and we’re eager to see who steps up this year in Riyadh.”
The second new face on LIV Golf will come through the International Series Ranking, currently headed by American John Catlin, who was a standby this season and got to play in five tournaments.
Rahul Singh, Head of The International Series, added: “John’s success in a number of LIV Golf events as a reserve this season is proof of the quality of play that we see each week on The International Series.
“As we crown a 2024 International Series champion later this fall and look to the highly anticipated LIV Golf Promotions, one deserving player will have the chance to punch a life-changing ticket to LIV Golf.”
Apart from players from around the world, relegated players, and those without a team commitment for 2025 who finished in the Open Zone (25th-48th) in the 2024 LIV Golf League standings also have the opportunity to regain their playing rights for 2025.
