Investors from Saudi Arabia and UK look to opportunities for growth as the Kingdom’s sports sector targets as a market size of $23bn.
The UK-Saudi Sports Investment and Innovation Forum was held in London this week with the participation of the Ministries of Investment and Sports, Saudi and British investors, and senior officials in the sports sector from the two countries.
The forum was held on the sidelines of the UK-Saudi Sustainable Infrastructure Summit, and was organised by the Federation of Saudi Chambers, represented by the Saudi British Joint Business Council.
Saudi-UK sport investments
Saudi Esports Federation chief executive Turki Al Fawzan explained that 67 per cent of Saudis love electronic sports and games.
Ministry of Investment Director of Sports Sector Investment Development Basem Ibrahim explained that the size of the sports market in the Kingdom is estimated at about SR30bn ($8bn), expecting the market size to reach SR84bn ($23bn) by 2030.
The forum discussed several topics, including hosting mega sports tournaments, foreign acquisitions, quality-of-life initiatives, and the opportunities for partnerships and investments between the two countries.
